FTU TUT: Dark Misery

Xero Porcelin

THIS TUTORIAL WAS WRITTEN ASSUMING YOU HAVE A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF PSP.


LETS BEGIN!!!

 1. Open Base Background in PSP. Promote the background layer.

2. Open PurpleGothBackground. Copy and paste as a new layer on your Base Background.

3. Open Stone Stairway MDZ Mist. Copy and paste as a new layer on your working image. Image/Resize by 80%. Repeat resize by 80%. Move image to the left. On your blend mode set it to Luminance(L) and drop the opacity to 50%.

4. Open Cemertary By Moonlight MDZ Mist. Copy and paste as a new layer on your working image. On your blend mode, set it to Luminance(L).

5. Close out Raster 1 (white background) by clicking on the eye in your layer pallette. Click on Raster 2 and make it your active layer. Selections/ Select All.

6. Selections/ Modify/ Contract 10. Hit OK. Selections/Invert. Hit Delete.

DO NOT DESELECT!

7. Click on Raster 3. Hit Delete. Repeat for Raster 4 as well. Select none.

8. Make Raster 2 layer active again. Effects/Drop Shadow with the following settings:
V:0
H:0
O:65
B: 12.00
Color: Black

Unhide Raster 1.

9. Open up purple goth. Make sure you are on the tube layer and copy. Paste as a new layer on your working image. Move the layer so it is now the top layer. Image/resize by 80%. (make sure you have all layers UNchecked.) Move the image to the right. Use my example as a guide. Use the same drop shadow as before.

10. While your tube layer is active (raster 5), Effects/Plugins/Xero/Porcelin with the following settings:
Softness: 50
Strength: 128
Brightness: 128
Red Channel: 0
Green Channel: 0
Blue Channel: 0

Hit ok.

11. Click on Raster 4 and make it the active layer. Copy and paste the purple goth tube again. Image/Mirror.
Image/Resize by 30%.
Apply the same drop shadow as before.
Place it next to the crow pedastal. Use my example as a guide. Change the blend mode to Soft Light.

12. Click on the text tool. Here are the colors I used:
foreground set to: #eae0ea
background set to: #502a7a

I also used NeverWinter Font which is included in the supplies. It is a free font and can be found here: http://www.dafont.com/neverwinter.font

My settings for the text are as follows:
Create as Vector.
Size 65.
Stroke width:2.0
Font Style:Bold
Anti-alias:Sharp
AutoKern checked.

Type whatever you want on your tag. I typed Dark Misery. Convert to Raster layer. Drop shadow with the following:

V:2
H:1
O:65
B:6.00
Color:Black

Edit/Repeat Drop Shadow.

13. Add your name if you wish in a different font. I used the following font and settings:

Font: Brush Script
Create as Vector.
Size 72.
Stroke width:2.0
Font Style:Bold
Anti-alias:Sharp
AutoKern checked.

Convert to raster. I added the same drop shadow as the previous text. Then I changed the blend mode to Burn. Do whatever you prefer or is to your taste.

14. Add your watermark info. Add any copyright info if you use a different tube or images.

15. Merge All Flatten.

16. Image/ Add borders.

The settings I used are:
Color: #422464
Size 5 with Symmetric checked.

17. Save image and all done!
